Terms & conditions for selling cars by auction

  1. In order to bid, an amount of 5,000 must be deposited in Lumi's bank account.
  2. The bidder is responsible for inspecting the cars within the specified time before submitting their bids online on the auction website.
  3. The auction results and the winners are determined after the Lumi administration's approval.
  4. The auction winners must transfer the bid amount for the vehicle to Lumi’s account within 24 hours, and a copy of the transfer receipt must be uploaded on the website. If the car is being received on behalf of someone else, then an authorisation letter on the official letterhead will need to be presented at the time of collection.
  5. An amount of 150 plus VAT will be paid for each vehicle successfully purchased as a service fee.
  6. After making the payment for the vehicle, the car must be collected immediately and on the same day, after which the buyer will bear the fees for transporting the car from the warehouses.
  7. If the buyer refuses or delays the payment of the total amount or withdraws as the auction winner, a penalty will be applied as follows:

    For the first time 1,500, for the second time 2,000, and for the third time 3,000 will be charged for one car and the buyer will be prohibited from entering the next auction.
  8. The buyer must sign the sales contract or transfer authorisation to receive the vehicle registration after confirming the payment.
  9. The cars sold must be registered in the TAMM system under the buyer’s name before handing over the vehicles and the sales contract.
  10. The car can only be used once the ownership is transferred from the company's name to the buyer's name
  11. The buyer has the right to return the car within 24 hours from the date of purchase only if a defect (defects) is found.

    Defects due to which the car can be returned:
    • A cut in the chassis which prevents it from passing the periodic inspection.
    • The car engine is not working.
    • Transmission is not working.
    Relevant documents or reports need to be submitted to support the claim.
  12. The buyer must transfer ownership of the vehicle within 10 days from the date of purchase and submit a copy of the transfer certificate (for car showrooms only, otherwise the car will not be delivered to the buyer until ownership is transferred). Ownership transfer, periodic inspection, and insurance costs are borne by the buyer.
    Fine for not transferring ownership:
    • If the vehicle ownership is not transferred within 30 days, it will result in a fine of 500 every month for each car.
    • If vehicle ownership is not transferred within 90 days, the buyer will be blocked from further participation in future auctions and a report will be submitted to the official authorities to take legal action.
  13. The buyer is fully responsible for the car in the event of an accident or any legal accountability that may occur before the transfer of ownership from Lumi to the buyer.
  14. The security deposit is refundable once all fees and formalities are settled and the ownership is transferred for all purchased vehicles.
  15. Lumi reserves the right to cancel or postpone any auction without any reason or remove any vehicle from the auction list.
  16. Lumi reserves the right to reject or void bids for any reason, and it is Lumi’s sole and absolute discretion.
  17. If the payment for the car is not completed within 24 hours, Lumi has the right to repossess the car and confiscate the deposit.
  18. Inspecting the car is the responsibility of the buyer. The buyer must also ensure that the correct bid price is submitted on the website, and Lumi is not responsible for any mistakes. It is important to note that the bid price excludes 15% value added tax (VAT).
  19. Cars are auctioned in their current condition with only one key, and Lumi is not responsible for any accessories not present in the vehicle.

What is Lumi auctions?

We run sealed-bid auctions for vehicles every week in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. In a sealed-bid auction, customers submit their bids privately without knowing their competitors' bids. You can visit our showrooms to inspect the cars before placing bids online.

Where are the showrooms located?

We have showrooms in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

What is the auction process?

All bids can be placed through the Lumi vehicle auction website and any ongoing or upcoming auctions will be visible on the website.

After completing the registration process, you can enter any ongoing or upcoming auctions, where you will be able to see the list of available vehicles and bid on them. You can visit our showroom to inspect the cars before placing your bids.

Results will be announced within 2 days once the auction closes.

How can I register?

You can register by clicking on the 'Register now' button on the Lumi vehicle auction website.

As part of the registration, you will have to enter your mobile number and verify it through an OTP sent to the number. Once your mobile number is verified, you can proceed to create a password and enter your personal and business details. Business details are optional and you can skip this step, if you are an individual buyer.

To complete the registration, a deposit of 5,000 must be made through a bank transfer, and the proof of payment needs to be uploaded onto the website. Please note that you can skip this step, if you are an existing customer and have already made this deposit to your account in the past.

After completing the registration process, your account will be reviewed by the Lumi team. Accounts are reviewed within 48 hours, and once your account is approved you can start participating in auctions.

What documents are required?

The following documents are required for individual buyers:
- ID number

For businesses:
- ID number
- CR number
- CR expiry date
- VAT number (if available)

What happens if I win bids?

We will notify you through SMS if your bid wins. You can then view your winning bids on the Lumi auction website by going to 'My bids' page, and then opening the 'Bids won' tab. You will be able to see all your winning bids here, along with the total amount you need to pay.

The winners of the bids must transfer the bid amount for the winning cars to Lumi's account within 24 hours, and a copy of the transfer receipt needs to be uploaded on the website.

Once you upload the receipt, the Lumi team will review the payment and contact you to come and collect the car and transfer ownership.

Note that buyers need to transfer ownership of the cars within 10 days from the date of purchase and submit a copy of the form after the transfer.

What happens if I lose bids?

We announce the results through SMS within 2 days once the auction closes. If you did not win any bids, then you do not need to take any action, and you can continue to participate in upcoming auctions.

What is the deposit amount?

In order to participate in auctions you need to deposit an amount of 5,000. This is a one-time deposit and you can participate in as many auctions as you like once this amount is transferred. Please note that this deposit is refundable upon request, if you want to stop participating in Lumi vehicle auctions.

How can I claim a VAT refund?

To get a VAT refund you need to submit your business details, including the VAT number at the time of registration.
